Green tea is known to be the secret weapon for weight loss, but does green tea really aid in weight loss?

Not only green tea is a beverage with low calories (only about 4 calories), green tea also contain elements that help with weight loss. Green tea has been used to help the treatment of obesity. Studies have shown that if obese people take green tea supplements with breakfast, lunch and dinner, they will lose weight twice as fast.

The caffeine content of the green tea also aid in weight loss. Caffeine increases the body's basal metabolic rate which energy is used for basic functions of the body. This is called the thermogenic effect. This effect may aid in weight loss by helping the body burn more calories on a day to day basis. The potential aid in weight loss of this is small but significant.

Answer: Sodium is not all that unhealthy so long as you don't exceed the recommended daily allowance. I love that Lipton green tea as well. As far as weight in regards to sodium, sodium does make you retain water weight. Body builders usually cut sodium out completely 3 wks before a show to help shed those last few pounds of water weight. If you are going to the beach or have a specific date in mind you might try this. For the long term keeping your sodium intake extremely low is just to hard and unhealthy. You should be fine, your body actually needs sodium.
