Is Diet Green Tea Bad For You

Question: Is okay to drink green tea and eat grapefruit while breastfeeding?
I breastfed my first son and followed every "what not to eat when breastfeeding" to the extreme....I didn't eat foods with sodium nitrates (hotdogs, salami, etc), any aged cheeses, no shell fish, no green tea, no grapefruits.....
I am breastfeeding my second son now, who is a month old....What foods should I really REALLY stay away from as far as breastfeeding??? I know obviously spicy foods and acidic foods like lemons, etc...my milk flow is plentiful, and I'm trying to loose a little weight by watching what I eat and exercising...I am in NO way crash-dieting, I am still eating and drinking the recommended amount of food and liquid for a breastfeeding mother...but is there a really a problem trying to loose weight?? Every website says not do diet while breastfeeding...is that true?? And is green tea really bad while breastfeeding???? And what about those packets that you can pour into water to add protein to your diet, is that okay?
Answer: You really don't need to avoid anything (other then excessive alcohol) while breast feeding. Unless of course, your baby reacts badly to something.
I have an 8 month old and regularly attend a breast feeding support group and I have never been told to avoid certain foods unless they are causing problems for my baby. Thankfully she has no problem with anything in my diet.
You can use protein supplements as long as you are not cutting calories. Your body still needs the extra full for you to produce milk.
